Contributions to Educational Modelling Languages

چکیده
Educational Modelling Languages (EMLs) have been proposed to enable the modelling of instructional resources in accordance with different learning approaches. An EML provides a containment framework of elements that can describe any design of a teaching-learning experience in a formal way. This thesis tries to contribute to the development of EMLs focusing on collaborative learning scenarios and considering constructivist and social learning models. We have observed that some collaborative learning practices cannot be adequately modelled using available EMLs. The first labour involves the rigorous demonstration of this assumption. In this way, a benchmark to evaluate EMLs’ expressiveness and suitability in collaborative settings is proposed. This benchmark will enable to measure the capacity of an EML to model collaborative learning practices. Then, we plan to propose a new EML or extensions over the IMS Learning Design proposal (currently the EML standard) in order to truly support the modelling of instructional resources for collaborative learning practices.

A Separation of Concerns Approach to Simplify the Computational Modelling of Educational Units
Educational Modelling Languages (EMLs) have been proposed to support the computational modelling of educational units accordingly to different pedagogical approaches. These languages are presented as formal specifications to capture the elements and behaviours involved in educational units. Eventually, these models are intended to support the execution of appropriate e-learning systems, enablin...
متن کاملModelling the “Planet Game” Case Study with LDL and Implementing it with LDI
Abstract: LDL (Learning Design Language) is an educational modelling language which was designed to model collaborative activities. This paper details the solution proposed to address, with LDL and the associated infrastructure LDI, the two steps presented in the workshop “Comparing Educational Modelling Languages on a case study”. The modelling of the case study is described in detail. Its “op...

متن کاملChallenges in Educational Modelling: Expressiveness of IMS Learning Design
Educational Modelling Languages (EMLs) have been proposed to enable the authoring of models of learning units (e.g., courses, lessons, lab practices, seminars) covering the broad variety of pedagogical approaches. In addition, some EMLs have been proposed as computational languages that support the processing of learning unit models by appropriate Learning Management Systems (LMSs). In this con...
